100th INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women's Day is a national holiday.
The Upper Central  Archdeaconry Women's Committee celebrated this auspicious day on 19 March 2011. It was a day of  excitement with talk sessions and lovely meals.

The main event was the tribute  made to 10 women who have inspired us and made an impact on our spiritual lives. And one of them  is Mrs. Lily John from our Parish..

Mrs. Lily John served as the Diocesan Women's Committee's Secretary for three terms in the 1990s. She has been faithfully attending the Diocesan conference including the 2010 Conference in Malacca.

In our local Church, St. Barnabas, she served as the 1st Women's Fellowship President. She had also been the Church Treasurer for 5 years. She has also been been Internal Auditor for our Church.

She is also very talented in handwork such as embroidary and knitting. She has blessed both the DWC and other Churches with her beautiful banners.  She also stitches the Church Linen.

Mrs. Lily John has been instrumental in many Fund-Raising activities at St. Barnabas. Besides all these she is also a good cook. She still drops by her church from time to time to help out  whatever programs the church has.

She is a great Maths teacher and offers free tuition to the children at St. Barnabas Home.

She has been a friend, encourager and a role model for many younger women.

For these and her many other selfless service with the DWC and the Christian Community, the UCAWC chose to Honour her!
