The Mission & Evangelism Committee have been involved in the following ministries:

 

  1. Migrant Ministry
  • SBC continues to partner and support MMK by contributing RM1,000 per month.
  • Myanmar Service is held in SBC every Sunday from 4 - 6pm.
  • Every 1 st Sunday of the month SBC Cell groups take turns to provide dinner for the Myanmar Congregation. RM200/ per month was approved by PCC for this purpose.
  • SBC is supporting Mr Raju from India to study theology at MBS, Klang.
  • SBC continues to host the Myanmar Chin Fellowship from 1- 4pm. every Sunday.
  • SBC contributes RM 500 monthly to the Meru Christian Fellowship, a house church planted by Pastor Lian in Meru (see attached report).
  • SBC (along with Wesley Methodist) continues to host the School for Migrant Children (“El Shaddai”) every weekday.

 

  1. International Mission
  • SBC continues to support Ark Ministry (Ministry to the dying and destitute), India by sending RM100/ monthly.
  • Made financial donations to numerous International Mission organizations.

 

  1. Orang Asli
  • Mission trip to Orang Asli settlement in Ulu Kampar, Gopeng on 17 th August 2011. This was organized by the Mens’ Fellowship with cooperation of M&E committee.
  • Visit to Orang Asli Settlement , Laguna Park, Pulau Indah on 17 th March 2012.This event was coordinated by Mrs Mary James and Mr, Gurubatham Ponniah. About 40 SBC members had fellowship with 250 orang asli. It was a time of getting to know one another. The children truly enjoyed the games. Lunch and provision was distributed 50 families. This is another avenue God is showing us to share The Good News.

 

  1. Evangelism
  • Mary & Martha Ministry at Asarippu Kudaram on 27 th August 2011. This is a Ministry among single mothers in partnership with St. Mary's Cathedral. About 20 SBC members went to Sg Buloh and had a time of worship, shared God's message of love and had discussion in small groups. We provided lunch and distributed bags of provision to 45 families. The harvest is plenty but the workers are few.
  • Christmas Celebration at St. Barnabas Center Port Klang.. on 30 th December 2011. There was a time of Praise and Worship with a Christmas message from Rev. Canon Ganapathy. This was followed by games and dinner. Our special guests were non-Christians friends from Kg. Mayalam, Port Klang and Pandamaran.

 

  1. Seminars and Training
  • Mission Motivation Seminar conducted by Ms Lorna Rode and her team from Interserve, Malaysia in October at SBC.
  • Retreat and Meditation at St. Mary's Cathedral on 4 th February 2012. Theme "Outpouring of the Holy Spirit for Mission & Evangelism". This was organized by the M &E Committee of St. Mary's Cathedral. About 20 members of SBC were blessed by the sessions conducted by Rev. Ganapathy.
  • The Kairos Course on World Missions will be held in SBC in September 2012. All members who have not attended this course before are encouraged to join.

 

6. Church planting

 

A new Outreach Center was started in Port Klang in October 2011. This center primarily functions as a tuition center and monthly health clinic for the poor families in the neighborhood. It is hoped that this center will eventually become a church in the near future.
