WELFARE PROGRAMMES OF THE MINISTRY

Sharing the Manna:

The Sharing of a meal every Thursday in the Church's Community Hall between 8.00 am - 11.00 am was initiated more than 5 years ago where breakfast is served free to all who come. Our guests include the less fortunate, workers from the menial work force and just about "anyone" who is not only in need of food, but also in need of people who have time and patience to listen to their problems. Many are abandoned by spouses, some by children, yet others for some reason or other rejected by family or society. Whatever their "let downs", Committee members and volunteers endeavour to advise and comfort them accordingly. At least 60 people have become our "regulars" and the food, love and care extended to them "makes their day", which in turn brings joy to the Ministry's team in being able to touch lives outside of the Church.

Food Bank:

Poor and needy families (especially single mothers) receive dry ration on a monthly basis, the food items provided being rice, sugar, milk powder, coffee, mee-hoon, sardines, oil, wheat flour and biscuits. Currently there are 40 families on our list of recipients with many more families approaching the Church for help. Sadly we are not able to meet the needs of all who seek help due to limited funds.

FINANCIAL AID:

Education :

Financial aid is given to poor and needy students for school bus fares, purchasing of work books etc on a case to case basis. Here again we are not able to accommodate the requests of the many who come due to limited funds.

Tuition Centre:

In 2010 a tuition centre was started in a slum area in Port Klang. With the help of volunteers from the Church, children ranging from pre-school to 12 years of age are given free tuition and helped in their school work. The children are also provided with food and drinks which they look forward to.

Prison Family Ministry:

This is a programme where families of Prisoners are visited, counselled, motivated and assisted materially. Committee members who have formal training in this field, strive to bring love and care into the lives of these otherwise, desolate and hurting women and children, who are victims of circumstances.

STREET FEEDING:

A team of Committee members from the Welfare and Social Concerns Ministry and volunteers go out into the streets forth-nightly distributing packed food and clothing to "people who are in want".

ANNUAL EVENTS:

Christmas Bash:

Come December, a joyous Christmas Party is held for the poor and needy. Our guests comprising of adults and children number about 200-250 who are entertained with songs, dances, skits and games. Sumptuous food and a gift for every invited guest fills their hearts with joy and brings glory to God ALMIGHTY.

The Welfare and Social Concerns Committee invites YOU to:

  • Pray for the Ministry
  • Volunteer your time
  • Contribute in cash or kind towards anyone of our programmes or to the Ministry as a whole.

A little help will go a long way for the HELPLESS, THE HOMELESS, THE HUNGRY and THE LONELY (especially the children).
