MEN'S FELLOWSHIP REPORT - 2010/2011

We give thanks and praise to God for His guidance in the year 2010 as we continue to serve Him in 2011.

The following office bearers were elected in the Men's Fellowship AGM held on 7 th March 2010:

Our membership consists of 37 members and out of this numbers only 25 are actively involved in our monthly meetings and various activities during the year.


Our meetings begin with members taking turns to share the word of God.  Topics shared thus far are:-

The following activities were carried out during the year:

  • Car Maintenance Talk - This was conducted by Daniel Rajamony on 2 nd May'10.  We had a good turnout of about 25 people from our Church.  It was said to be a very informative session.

  • Orang Asli Fish Pond Project - This took place at Kg.Ulu Groh, Kampar from 28~30 May'10. Twelve of our members successfully completed the project by releasing 3,000 fish fries in the pond. In addition, electrical installations and fittings were also done in the chapel, class room, kitchen and the surroundings of the village by our team of electrical professionals. The total expenditure for the project amounted to RM 3,164.55 of which RM 2,200.00 was contributed by the Mission & Evangelical body of St.Mary's Cathedral.

  • Pledge Contribution for a New Church Van - To-date the collection stands at RM 800.00.  We are optimistic of achieving our pledge amounting to RM 7,200.00 by April 2012.

  • Sightseeing for Crosstalk Visitors - Two of our members together with our Vicar and his family were kind enough to take Mrs. Shirley & Mrs. Gill from Litchfield, UK for a city tour on 15 th June'10.

  • Sunday Worship - Our men gracefully led the Sunday Worship that was held on 4 th July'10.

  • Visitation of the Sick - To-date our men had visited Mr. Barnabas and his mother on 14 th Aug'10 and the late Mr. Edward Chelliah.

  • Christian Book Store - The store was temporarily closed for repairs from Aug'10.  During this time a committee was set-up to further improve the management of the bookstore. The bookstore was reopened on 13 th Feb'11.

  • There was a follow-up visit to Kg.Ulu Groh - Six of our members made a trip to Kg.Ulu Groh on 18 th Sept'10 to monitor the progress of the fish.  By God's grace everything was well in progress and the fishes were growing.   Subsequently, they made a site visit to Kg.Ulu Kampar which would be our next parish mission trip.

  • Five of us from the Men's Fellowship attended the 14 th Anniversary Celebration of Gereja Shalom, Gopeng held on 26 th Sept'10.  Bishop Ng Moon Hing was there to grace the occasion.  The Orang Asli people presented their traditional dances with much enthusiasm.

  • Five of our members attended the Diocesan Men's Conference held at St.Mary's Cathedral on 16 th Oct'10.   The theme for the conference was "Challenges Facing Christian Leadership in Malaysia Today".

  • Nature Walk was planned to be held every alternate Sundays coordinated by Walter Premraj. However, due to the weather constrain the response was poor.  The activity was put on hold and resumed from 17 th Oct'10.

  • Our Spouse Appreciation Dinner was held on 30 th Oct'10 at the Sg.Bagan Seafood Restaurant at Tg.Harapan, Pt.Klang.  It was indeed a memorable and a very fun filled event.

  • The Men Fellowship organized a Parish Gotong Royong on 13 th Nov'10 at the Church Hall.  We had a good turn-up of about 25 people comprising all the Fellowships of SBC.

  • Being a caring Fellowship, we contributed in kind by providing canned sardines and medical supplies to the needful through our Welfare & Social Concern Committee.  A cash contribution of RM 300.00 was given to their Christmas Bash Celebration for the poor in December '10.

  • A Motivational Talk was organized for our Parishioners on 23 rd Jan'11.  The speaker was Mrs. Mary Joseph, an experienced and humorous speaker who gave a talk & workshop on "The Christian Family".  About 40 parishioners attended this aspiring talk.


  • Apart from our activities, our Men's Fellowship is always committed to provide assistance in the various church activities and events when requested.  We also play an active role being Hospitable Stewards during Church Services by welcoming, greeting, ushering and assisting the people who worship our Church.

    8. Oct                - Spouse Appreciation Dinner
    9. Oct 16 th        - Car Maintenance Seminar Part 2
    10. Nov 7 th               - MF Parish Gotong Royong

    On behalf of the Men's Fellowship, I would like to place on record our sincere appreciation to our Vicar for his encouragement and prayer, members of the PCC, the various auxiliary bodies and the parishioners of St.Barnabas Church for supporting our activities in 2010/2011.
